During these hard economic times we all want a break from the stresses of life, but it can be expensive to travel abroad, so let’s find ways to take advantage of economic ups and downs and find places where prices may have dropped and places that may be up and coming tourist hot spots.

Western Europe’s best bargain vacation destination is Ireland. Ireland is a beautiful place; why not discover the Emerald Isle’s medieval castles, old-fashioned villages and bustling cities, you can also look at its historical, geological and botanical wonders in amazement. Prices in Ireland are the lowest available in Western Europe which is, an attempt to boost tourism so it’s a great time to visit, especially Dublin – Ireland’s capital city.

After the Olympics last year Shanghai has become another bargain destination to visit, the city underwent major reconstruction to prepare for the huge number of tourists that were going to be entering China. To encourage tourists back again the prices have come down by half, so there are a lot of bargains to find! There is so much to see in Shanghai from amusement parks to recreational activities such as river cruises. If you’re feeling brave why not go swimming with sharks in Shanghai? China is known for its high speed trains, so why not hop on to other tourist areas such as Nanjing, which is known for its many Buddhist temples or even Hangzhou, which the Chinese call ‘Heaven on Earth’.

Eastern Europe is also a great bargain destination to visit. Estonia has had a soviet past which hasn’t been appealing for many travellers, as you can imagine. Recently Estonia’s capital city, Tallinn was named a 2011 European Capital of Culture and in celebration of this honour a yearlong festivities will be launched, filled with dance festivals, concerts and lots more.

Sri Lanka has declared 2011 as, ‘Visit Sri Lanka year’; this beautiful island off the coast of India is set in the Indian Ocean in South Asia. A country adorned with heritage Sri Lanka has some great Asian monuments and history. Why not try a Sri Lankan heritage tour which lasts for 8 days where you can see great landmarks and beautiful landscapes. You can break Sri Lanka into 5 main areas of interests, The Cultural Triangle which will have you exploring ancient temples and ruined cities, Kandy, which is the heart of the hustle and bustle of Sri Lanka. If you want to go for a lovely walk, why not try The Hill Country, an area of tea covered hills and beautiful waterfalls. If you’re looking for some family holiday parks type of fun there are many deserted beaches, wildlife parks and elephants to see. The final area – the South West also has beautiful beaches, lagoons and tropical villages, so there is definitely something for everyone.

Visit other places like, Namibia, another great budget destination in South Africa with beautiful landscapes and Bangladesh is one of the cheapest places to visit on the globe.
