1. Talk about Money with your Friends
Talk about your concerns, fears, and money worries with friends and family. Ask them what they did to solve their financial problems and how they manage their money. Some people may not be willing to talk about their money, its best to just drop the subject. For some reason, many people are very secretive about how much money they make, and perhaps it is for the better.
Relationships seem to change so much when people start making more money. The important thing is not how much money they make; it is what they do with their money. Whether they spend it, save it, or invest it, knowing how some of the people use money in your life could give you perspective. Knowing how other people use their money could help you create your own financial plan.
2. When You Have a Plan, Talk about it
When you create your plan, talk to others about it. Making a plan for your money and sharing it could help you realize what you need to do. However, just be careful that you don’t share with the wrong person. Sharing with the wrong person could lead them to criticize or bring you down. Being criticized often has a discouraging effect, which will make you doubt yourself and then quit. Then your plan will fail. Sometimes when someone criticizes you, they are actually telling you about their fears.
If they are telling you general things such as “You’ll never make it, it’s never been done before or what makes you think that you could do that?” then they are negative people and you should get away from them as fast as you can. If they ask about some of the common problems that your financial plan has, such as “Where are you going to get the money? When do you plan on starting? How much time and money are you willing to put in?” then they are simply trying to help you. Even if these questions seem negative, they could help you figure out the flaws in your plan.
3. Find a Support Group
Once you have worked out the flaws, keep in mind that many more money problems will arise down the road. What you need to do is find a support group to help you along the way. A support group is a group of like-minded individuals that would help each other achieve their goals. Sometimes you can’t achieve financial freedom by yourself. A support group could consist of your friends but only as long as they are doing the same things as you are. If they’re supportive but are not trying to become financially free, then they will not know what it is like to start a plan to become financially free.
As you go through your plan, your support group could cheer you on with inspirational stories and stories about they started to make money themselves. Many people like to talk about how they succeeded. If you have any concerns at all, a support group could help you with your debt problems. A person in a support group will often achieve much more then he will by himself, and his support group could even inspire him when he becomes discouraged. If you’re determined to overcome money problems, you need all the help you can get.
